Did It For Bob

This blog entry is a little larger than
life, since I went to Paradiso last thursdaynight, where a party was held in celebration of the finished translations of 6000 Bob Dylan songs in Dutch, by a couple of Personal Intrepitators who call themselves 'Bindervoet & Henkes'

Yours truly managed to make myself invisible and sneak up right behind Zorro, so I could cover some twists of fate from the wings with

a simple pocketcam. I think I saw red hot, and scarlett too...

Seaside organ grinder Rob van Donselaar and a fantastic band of Incorporated Izzies and several generations of Bobniks accompanied the cream of the Lowlands in Rolling Thunder style, to
spread the word that Bob now
has his own Dutch
TelephoneBook.

In the Grande finale comedian Freek 'the Young One' took the liberty to adlib a verse in his Bobsong, in honour of the beloved sculptor painter and writer Jan Wolkers, who recently dreamed away to a place called Not The End, and all Dutch people know what he's probably doing in that secret garden ...
From the screen above the bandstand His Bobness Himself kept a somewhat bemused eye on the proceedings, as if thinking:
"Hey, I ain't dead yet"

I hope Bob will make the next pile of words extra high, and long and doubledutch, that will teach them Thunderfood and Lightbulb. Of course we all got VERY stoned, at least in my corner we had the courtesy to do that for Bob.

You know it when you've been TANGOed

Saturday nov. 3rd, the day after the 'Dia De Los Muertos', Quinteto Tango Extremo visited the X., Leiden

They were joined by two very special guestmusicians from Argentina, guitarist and composer Gustavo Mozzi and pecussionist Facundo Guevara, who brought along historic film footage of Buenos Aires and its amazing people, wich was projected during parts of the concert. Beautiful black and white and colour edits of carnaval parades and sacred spirit dances. With the help of a little laptop senor Guevara played perfectly in time with the spirits of the past projected over his head, and it created the effect as if they were dancing along with the band. I wouldn't be surprised if they were. Some dancing couples in the back floated like leaves in a breeze...

Mesechinka oct 27 de X. Leiden

This is
not JUST a cool looking fiddle, or is it a viola like the other not so ordinary one? Brilliant game with the 8shape curved figure and ancient and modern symbolism. I wonder about the effect of looking at it from the players perspective.
This lady's touch and tone on both instruments here made me sit up straight right away. You don't have to be educated in music to recognize what they call ' mastership ' . Your whole being is telling you there's something else resonating in the room.Something beyond skill.

And what a band, what an intricate interaction, 7 people sounding as if speaking with one voice. I'm moonstruck.

IpsYlonized

After last fridaynight I felt a bit ipsi. Why? I'd been shaking my maracas 'till the early hours at the so called IpsYlon Festival at Bar & Boos, Leiden.
On IpsY nights any artist who wants to perform, jam, read poetry, paint, beam visuals, anything, is welcome. People bring instruments and equipment and share them. There are no boundaries between spectators and performers, the band is playing on the dancefloor in between the dancing crowd, and the DJ is playing along with the music from the floor. And with chalk the floor is a canvas too. It sure produced Living Art...
I guess it was kind of like those Merry Prankster Events in the Summer Of Love, '67, but without the spiked punch, so everybody more or less was able to play in tune, and we shared some truly extatic moments. The idea for this event came up in the head of artist Jeroen Keereweer while baking pancakes with a friend. I don't know what was in the pancakes but it worked.

Here we see Jeroen and a guest working on a 'Y' somewhere about a quarter to four, or was it five? IpsYlon is Real. Ipse or whatever the facto!

I Might Be Late But I'm Not In A Hurry

If there ever is a state of mind I'm trying to reach it's this one ( but, obviously it can not be achieved by TRYING too hard of course)
Another purpose in my life is to find ordinary magic and PASS IT ON, wich I hereby happily do
